About
I was born in Washington, grew up in Vancouver, went to school in Pullman, WA (WSU) and for about 10 years lived in Southern California, before moving back to Vancouver in 2007.
My husband and I own a vintage movie theater in downtown Vancouver, and have run it for the last 12 years, Kiggins Movie Theatre. Yes, we really do love movies that much, and it is a big part of our family. We even go on movie themed vacations!
I have a background in Architecture, Fine Arts and Graphic Design. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Imaging (a "new" field in 1996), I realized I was better suited to production and publishing and moved into newspaper advertising with The Wall Street Journal. Interestingly enough, my love of design, architecture, cars and advertising have always been mixed into the many positions I have had over the years.
A love of cars lead to my dream job as a Nissan Product Specialist at TBWA/Chiat/Day. As a Product Specialist I was responsible for producing all of the cars the agency needed for tv commercials and photo shoots. I often "had" to drive prototypes back and forth from our office and Nissan in Torrance. Driving all different kinds of cars was quite fun! Once I had to rent all of these luxury cars to compare to the new Infiniti M35, they included the Lexus ISF, Porsche Cayman, Mercedes CLK and a BMW 335i with twin turbo. That was a fun day picking up all of those cars. When it came time for us to move to Vancouver I was really sad to leave the position and the agency, but I also knew that the job would not last forever. Operations were moving to Tennessee anyway, so it was a good time to move back to the NW.
Arriving back in Vancouver/Portland area provided a new opportunities to work with the footwear and apparel industry. Having the chance to work at Weiden+Kennedy, Adidas, LaCrosse Footwear and Nike have been amazing, and exciting.
My drafting background, art and architecture interests lead to me illustrating and self publishing a Vintage Homes coloring book on amazon.com. This project was a labor of love that took me about 18 months to illustrate each of the houses by hand. Most of the houses are from the neighborhood I live in and the surrounding area.
The latest adventure is in residential real estate. I have been selling properties for the last 3 years and it has been a blast. Some of my clients have become my close friends and it is so rewarding to see families land in great places, or help them to achieve their next steps in life.
The career path I have been on hasn’t been a straight road, but I have had some of the funnest jobs, working for some great companies, and worked with the best people. I never know where the road will lead to next, but I am excited to see what the next part brings. Life is an evolution of our experiences, bring it on!
